Practice Emphasis

Mr. Shifrin focuses his practice on construction and real estate disputes. He represents and counsels owners, developers, tenants, contractors, and subcontractors in mediation, arbitration, and litigation.

Mr. Shifrin has prosecuted and defended claims involving construction contracts, leases, construction defects, design errors and omissions, professional negligence, mechanics liens, project delays, and ADA and other code violations.  

He also has commercial litigation experience involving contract and business litigation and advising clients concerning a variety of business related disputes.

Pro Bono Representation

Mr. Shifrin  has served on the Leadership Council of the National Immigrant Justice Center and has undertaken a wide range of pro bono representation including:

  • Representing clients in asylum matters, including a family from Indonesia who had fled religious persecution in Jakarta and an individual who fled Columbia to escape persecution from the FARC;
  • Representing several juveniles in criminal cases pending in Cook County Juvenile Court; and
  • Representing hurricane Katrina victims residing in Mississippi.
